Aristocrat Mxt-4884 THC

Following the sale of my Petroglyph Lava Java cabinet, I commissioned this customized humidor from Bob Staebell at Aristocrat Humidors.  In order to avoid a similar situation, in which I am out of space before the humidor actually arrives, I decided to build a cabinet as BIG as possible.

The largest temperature controlled cabinet that was listed on the Aristocrat website (at the time of order) was the Mxt-4874 , which measured 52" wide x 74" high x 26.5" deep with crown.   After speaking with Bob Staebell, he mentioned that he was working on a new larger cabinet based on this design, dubbed the 4884, which was 84" high, same width as depth as the 4874.  I decided to go with this model, but to increase the dimensions even more.   I bumped the depth to 32" (vs. 26.5), so the final dimensions were 52" wide x 84" high x 32" .  I also added 2 more cooling units to the base 4 units, for a total of 6 coolers.  There are 4 humidifying elements included, as well as numerous mini-fans to circulate the air within.

From order to delivery took just about 8 weeks, as promised.  Sure as hell beats waiting over a year!  (see Petroglyph Humidor tab for more info).  Here's pictures of the beast that just arrived.

One interesting note:  when I received the Petroglyph humidor, I noticed that the RH started climing steadily from day 1, and would settle in pretty high at 71% RH.  I thought the humidifier was emitting too much moisture, so I actually removed it, but the RH stayed high.  I ended up putting in bags of beads to bring the RH down.  With the Aristocrat, Bob recommends running the temp controller for a day to get the temp stabilized before adding any distilled water to the humidifiers.  The  RH climbed from a starting point of 60%, up to 68/70% the following night.  Again, this is with NO humidifier connected to the cab yet!  Evidently the ambient RH in my area (San Francisco, CA), combined with the cooling effect of the peltier units, causes the RH to spike pretty high.  For now I'll not be adding any water into the humidifiers, but instead putting in about 6-7 pounds of beads to lower the RH.    And now, on to the show....

here's a pic of the upper controller showing the temp/RH.  Again, NO humidifiers connected at this point.  Need to put those beads in ASAP!

More pics to follow once I fill 'er up!
